Due to the negligence of the electricity department, two farmers lost their lives in separate incidents in Warangal and Rajanna Sircilla districts. Faulty transformers and power supply issues led to tragic accidents.
HYDERABAD: The negligence of the electricity department has resulted in the deaths of two farmers in Telangana. The incidents occurred in Warangal’s Vardhannapet mandal and Rajanna Sircilla district’s Mustabad mandal. According to villagers, faulty transformers and irregular power supply played a key role in these tragedies.
In the first incident, Balguri Venkateshwarlu (51), a farmer from Labarthi village in Vardhannapet mandal, was cultivating paddy. However, due to a defective on-off system in the electricity transformer, power supply issues persisted. As a result, his motors failed to function properly, putting his paddy field at risk of drying up.
Despite multiple complaints to the electricity department, no action was taken. On Thursday, while attempting to fix the starter issue to irrigate his field, Venkateshwarlu suffered an electric shock and died on the spot. Fellow farmers noticed the incident and immediately informed his family and the police. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
In another incident, Are Lakshmi Narsu (54), a farmer from Namapur village in Mustabad mandal, was electrocuted while trying to fix a transformer fuse near his farmland a week ago. Local residents rushed him to a hospital in Siddipet, where doctors advised further treatment in Hyderabad. However, despite receiving medical care, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. His last rites were performed in Namapur on Thursday. He is survived by his wife Bhulakshmi, son Naveen, and daughter Mounika.
