Hyderabad: BJP leader and former MLA NVSS Prabhakar on Monday criticised the Telangana government over repeated food poisoning cases in residential schools across Hyderabad, alleging administrative failure and negligence.
Addressing reporters at the BJP state office, Prabhakar said such incidents were occurring weekly, with several going unreported. “Why are children still falling sick despite the education portfolio being held by the Chief Minister?” he asked.
Unreported Incidents, Poor Oversight Alleged
Prabhakar claimed that while a few food-related illnesses had reached the media, many others remained hidden. He questioned the lack of oversight in school kitchens and accused the government of failing to act.
He also criticised the state’s liquor policy, accusing the ruling administration of tripling alcohol revenue compared to the previous government. “Both past and present governments promised to shut belt shops. Neither delivered,” he said.
Rains, Corruption, and Leadership Critique
Prabhakar pointed to water stagnation in GHMC limits following heavy rains, calling it evidence of administrative collapse.
“They claim to be a people’s government, but no one steps in to solve real issues. If you can’t govern, step down,” he said.
He also alleged widespread corruption across state departments and accused the government of using alcohol as a distraction from unfulfilled promises, including the six guarantees.
