Pawan Kalyan praises HYDRAA model, calls for similar system in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said that the State also needs a system like Hyderabad’s HYDRAA to protect lakes, water bodies, and government lands. He praised the Telangana government’s initiative, noting that such a model could benefit all States.

The Deputy Chief Minister made these remarks after meeting HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath at his camp office in Mangalagiri on Friday. Ranganath had called on Pawan Kalyan to extend courtesy greetings while attending a private event in Vijayawada. During the meeting, Pawan Kalyan discussed HYDRAA’s activities and expressed appreciation for its effective management.

Pawan Kalyan HYDRAA model Andhra Pradesh

Pawan Kalyan lauded HYDRAA’s efforts to restore lakes, remove encroachments, and safeguard public assets in Hyderabad. He specifically mentioned the successful restoration of Bathukamma Kunta, Bhamruk Doula, Kukatpally Nallacheruvu, and Thammidikunta in Madhapur.

The Deputy Chief Minister also inquired about HYDRAA’s strict actions against illegal constructions and appreciated the transparency in its operations. He noted that Hyderabad’s approach to protecting lakes, nalas, and public lands should serve as a model for Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, Pawan Kalyan suggested that the Andhra Pradesh government could soon explore setting up a similar system to address urban encroachments and flood-related issues. He pointed out the recurring problems along the Budamaneeru canal, including encroachments and flood damage, which highlight the need for a specialised authority like HYDRAA.

HYDRAA is hailed as a pioneering urban protection model

Pawan Kalyan observed that Telangana was the first State in India to introduce an independent body like HYDRAA for environmental and civic protection. He said that appointing capable officers, granting necessary powers, and allowing operational freedom were key reasons for HYDRAA’s success.

He congratulated HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath for his commitment and dedication to the initiative. Pawan Kalyan said HYDRAA’s model has produced visible results by combining accountability, authority, and proactive enforcement.
