Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched the Indiramma housing scheme in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, marking the formal rollout of its housing initiative for the poor. State Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy inaugurated the scheme at Vasalamarri village.
The location holds symbolic significance as Vasalamarri had been adopted by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao during the previous administration.
Minister Ponguleti reached the village earlier in the day, accompanied by Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Tungaturthi MLA Birla Ilaiah, and Aleru MLA Anil Kumar Reddy. He toured the area and interacted with local residents ahead of the programme.
Following the inspection, the minister formally launched the housing scheme and handed over a house site document and a cheque for ₹1 lakh to the first beneficiary, a woman named Agavva.
Speaking at the event, Ponguleti said the Congress government was committed to providing homes for the poor and described the initiative as a step towards fulfilling that promise. Officials present said the scheme aims to ensure eligible families receive housing support from the state.
The launch drew a positive response from locals, with several residents attending the event.
