Hyderabad: BC leader and MLA R Krishnaiah extended full support to MLC Kavitha’s hunger strike, calling it a sincere effort for Backward Classes, and accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of dodging constitutional responsibility on BC reservations in local body polls.
Krishnaiah alleged that the state government had adopted a duplicitous stand on implementing 42% BC quota in local institutions, despite the Constitution granting full authority to the state under Article 243D(6). “Revanth is engaging in constant diversion tactics instead of acting,” he said.
He noted that Revanth had neither met the Governor on the ordinance nor sought an appointment with the President, and had failed to convene an all-party meeting on the issue. “Instead of implementing reservations, the CM is wasting time throwing mud at the Opposition and the BJP,” he said.
Krishnaiah demanded a large-scale action plan to enforce the promised 42% BC quota and warned against substituting governance with PR campaigns and political deflection.
He criticised the Congress government for failing to honour its BC reservation promise and said Revanth was shirking constitutional responsibility while attacking others. “No engagement with experts, no dialogue with parties. Only delay and diversion,” he said.
Praising Kavitha’s hunger strike, Krishnaiah said her protest would strengthen the BC movement. “This is a genuine, selfless fight,” he said. “Kavitha’s determination is clear. I support her wholeheartedly and wish her protest succeeds.”
