HYDERABAD: Minister for Roads and Buildings, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, announced that the central government has granted approval for the long-awaited Regional Ring Road (RRR) project in Telangana. This development is expected to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.
The RRR project encompasses a 343-kilometer, four-lane access-controlled expressway encircling Hyderabad, designed to alleviate traffic congestion and promote regional development. The project is divided into two segments: the northern and southern parts. The northern segment spans 158 kilometers, connecting Girmapur to Yadadri, while the southern segment covers 185 kilometers.
The northern segment has been segmented into five packages:
– Package I: Girmapur to Reddipalle (34.5 km)
– Package II: Reddipalle to Islampur (26 km)
– Package III: Islampur to Pragnapur (23 km)
– Package IV: Pragnapur to Rayagiri (43 km)
– Package V: Rayagiri to Tangadpalle (35 km)
The central government has invited tenders for these packages, with an estimated total cost of ₹7,104 crore. The project is expected to be completed within two years from the commencement of construction.
Minister Venkat Reddy expressed his gratitude to the central government for expediting the RRR project, highlighting its potential to transform Telangana’s infrastructure landscape. He credited the relentless efforts of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and himself for achieving this milestone within a year of the Congress government coming to power. The minister described the RRR as a “super game changer” for Telangana, akin to the impact of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) on Hyderabad’s development.
The RRR is anticipated to enhance connectivity, attract investments, and pave the way for a prosperous future for Telangana. The project’s approval signifies a significant step towards realizing improved infrastructure and economic growth in the state.
