CM Revanth: Hyderabad to be developed as global city, Jubilee Hills verdict affirms people’s trust

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday said the Telangana government is planning to develop Hyderabad as a global city, with projects focused on transport, water, and infrastructure. He made the remarks while addressing a press conference following the Congress victory in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election.

Revanth congratulated the party cadre and said the 51% vote share secured by Congress was a clear referendum on the party’s two-year governance. He pointed out that the BRS polled just 38%, while the BJP forfeited its deposit with only 8%.

Development plans for Hyderabad

The Chief Minister said the government was preparing plans to expand the Metro Rail network, construct elevated corridors, implement the Musi Riverfront project, resolve traffic congestion, and lift Godavari water to Hyderabad. He accused the BRS of obstructing development by spreading misinformation about initiatives like HYDRAA and Musi.

He invited Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to the state secretariat to discuss pending central projects and funding. He also asked Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka to review the status of central assistance and prepare a report for Telangana MPs.

Sharp criticism of BJP and BRS

Revanth criticised Kishan Reddy’s leadership, saying the BJP had lost credibility after securing only 17,000 votes in the bypoll. “This is an alert before a political earthquake,” he said, warning the BJP of further erosion if the Union Minister failed to change course.

He also targeted BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao, calling on them to abandon arrogance and jealousy. “Power is temporary. People have rejected your leadership,” he said, citing Congress victories in both Assembly and Parliamentary elections, followed by the latest win in Jubilee Hills.

Appeal to opposition and media

Revanth appealed to opposition parties to cooperate with the state’s development agenda. “I’ll do politics during elections, but for now, let’s focus on building Telangana,” he said.

He criticised certain media houses for spreading misinformation for commercial gains, alleging that some wrongly predicted a BRS majority. He urged the media to maintain credibility and analyse electoral trends fairly.

Highlighting Congress’s rising vote share in Jubilee Hills—from 39.5% in the 2023 Assembly elections to 41% in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, and now 51% he said no force could defeat the party if its leadership remained united.
