Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed officials to evacuate people from low-lying areas along the Musi river in Hyderabad. Continuous rainfall and the release of floodgates at Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar led to a sharp rise in water levels.
He instructed teams to immediately shift affected families to safer locations. Additionally, he emphasized the need to provide full support at relief camps and called for coordinated efforts from all departments.
Revanth Reddy Musi flood evacuations include late-night MGBS rescue
The Chief Minister personally monitored rescue operations at the MGBS bus station, which became submerged overnight. He remained in contact with field teams and ensured that stranded passengers were evacuated safely. Moreover, he directed transport authorities to reroute incoming buses to alternative terminals to avoid further disruption.
Given the ongoing Dasara and Bathukamma festivities, Revanth Reddy asked TGSRTC to make sure festival-bound travellers reach their destinations without delay.
Departments remain on alert as more rainfall looms
Following the IMD’s forecast of continued heavy rain, Revanth Reddy alerted police, GHMC, HYDRAA, electricity, and traffic departments. He urged them to work together in rescue and relief activities across all affected zones.
Furthermore, he asked officials to install clear signage at flood-prone and waterlogged areas. He also advised smooth traffic diversions to minimize inconvenience to commuters.
