Hyderabad: Telangana CM A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday convened a high-level review meeting at his Jubliee Hills residence for taking stock of the state’s heavy rain and flood situation. CM directed officials to remain on high alert, take immediate relief measures keeping in sight the developments at their end, and personally monitor operations in flood-affected districts.
Telangana State Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers D. Sridhar Babu and Seethakka attended the meeting along with officials from various departments. District collectors representing districts which were hit by floods attended teleconference in order to provide first-hand information about the developments.
CM orders round-the-clock monitoring in flood-hit districts
Revanth Reddy directed officials to expedite evacuation in low-lying villages, set up relief camps, and make available basic necessities such as food, drinking water, and medicines. He directed for sanitation drives so there is no spread of waterborne diseases in submerged localities.
The Chief Minister also instructed police and rescue personnel to enforce restrictions near streams, canals, and culverts while cautioning residents not to enter floodwaters. “Saving life is our first concern while ensuring no household is left exposed without support,” he noted during the inspection.
While at the same time a red warning for extremely heavy rainfall had been issued for Kamareddy, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Medak, and Siddipet. There was an orange warning for Adilabad, Mancherial, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Karimnagar, and Warangal. Several districts are also set to receive heavy to moderate showers in a 24-hour As per officials, several villages in Kamareddy, Medak, Adilabad, and Nirmal were heavily devastated by the floods in which roads were swept away and rivulets were in full swing. To aid local governments, units of Disaster Response Force (DRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed.
Revanth Reddy confirmed he was keeping a close eye on developments and promised assistance would continue to be extended by the government until normalcy is restored.
