Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday fixed December 9, 2027, as the final deadline for completing the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. He said the canal must be handed over to the people of Telangana on that date.
During a high-level review, he told officials to treat the project with top priority and urgency. He made it clear that he would not accept any delays. Moreover, he stressed that SLBC is vital not just for Nalgonda district but for the entire state.
SLBC completion deadline backed by green channel funding
Revanth Reddy confirmed that the state government will release funds through a green channel. This, he said, would remove procedural bottlenecks. He added that SLBC has the potential to deliver water at zero additional cost.
He asked officials to immediately clear all technical hurdles between the Srisailam dam and the Akkampalli reservoir. Additionally, he instructed all departments to resolve pending issues in a single joint meeting.
Contractors face strict oversight; Singareni to assist
The Chief Minister warned contractor JP Associates to mobilise equipment and stay ready for tunnel works. “If you delay by even one day, we won’t accept it,” he said. He also suggested using tunnelling experts from Singareni Collieries to speed up progress.
Revanth Reddy directed the power department to ensure nonstop electricity for SLBC operations. At the same time, he urged the forest department to fast-track clearance approvals. For smooth execution, he asked all implementing agencies to coordinate without gaps.
“There must be no room for delay,” he said. “Whatever the situation, we must complete SLBC by the deadline.”
