Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said only Rahul Gandhi can unseat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and promised that a Congress-led government will carry out a nationwide caste census to usher in “new social justice.”
Speaking at an AICC Legal Cell event in Delhi, Revanth said the Congress fought for India’s freedom while the BJP questions what it has done. “We fought British rule. We didn’t wait for power,” he said.
Taking aim at Modi, Revanth accused the Prime Minister of clinging to office for 26 years, refusing to step down despite repeated efforts by RSS and BJP leaders. “Mohan Bhagwat recently said no one should remain in office after 75. But Modi won’t give up his chair,” he said.
He contrasted this with the Gandhi family, calling them the only political dynasty in India to consistently sacrifice power. “Indira split Pakistan. Rajiv died fighting terror. Sonia gave up PM’s post. Manmohan became PM for the nation. Rahul had multiple chances, but chose to serve like a worker,” he said.
Quoting BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, Revanth claimed the BJP cannot cross 150 seats without Modi. “We’re ready to ensure they don’t win even one more,” he said.
Revanth credited the Telangana Congress for showing India a social justice roadmap by starting caste enumeration. He said Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue during Bharat Jodo Yatra, and the party would push for caste-based data collection nationwide.
