Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restructure ₹2 lakh crore in state loans taken at high interest by the previous government.
Speaking at the CREDAI Property Show in Hyderabad on Friday, Revanth Reddy said the Congress government inherited a severe economic crisis. “We are struggling with mounting debt and interest payments,” he said.
The CM noted that his administration convinced financial institutions to restructure ₹26,000 crore in loans at 7.5% interest for 35 years. He called on the Union Government to extend similar relief for the full ₹2 lakh crore debt.
Hyderabad’s development vision
Revanth Reddy also outlined plans to turn Hyderabad into a “great city” that future generations will remember. He cited the legacies of N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Hi-Tech City, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s Outer Ring Road, and Quli Qutb Shah’s Charminar as benchmarks.
“My name will also be etched in history,” he said. “I am young, energetic, and committed to Telangana’s development,” promising landmark projects to define the city’s future.
