Hyderabad: Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday announced that tenders for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) North Part will be issued within two months. He said construction works will begin in January 2026.
Project details and funding
The 161.5-km six-lane corridor will connect Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Jagdevpur, Bhongir, and Choutuppal. Komatireddy stressed that the tendering process will close by December, which will allow the works to roll out on time.
He accused the previous BRS government of neglecting the project despite its clearance by the Centre in 2017-18. “When I took charge, only six percent of land acquisition was done. Now we have crossed 98%,” he said.
The Minister noted that the project cost includes ₹6,000 crore for land acquisition, shared equally between the State and the Centre. He further explained that the State’s share of ₹3,000 crore has already been raised through HUDCO.
South Part concerns and farmers’ consent
Reassuring farmers, Komatireddy said the South Part of the RRR will move forward only with their consent. “As a farmer’s son, I will not allow injustice. Whether rich or poor, everyone will be treated equally,” he said.
He further announced that a ministerial committee will be formed after discussions with the Chief Minister to resolve land acquisition and alignment issues.
Centre’s support for Telangana highways
Komatireddy emphasised that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been supportive of Telangana’s highway projects. He pointed to the approval of the Gourelli–Bhadrachalam Highway and the LB Nagar–Malkapuram Road. Moreover, he added that works on the 8-lane Hyderabad–Vijayawada Highway will begin by February 2026.
