Hyderabad: Saifabad police, in coordination with CCS Hyderabad, arrested two men accused in a servant theft case and recovered stolen jewellery worth ₹1.5 crore. The recovery included 173 gold and diamond-studded ornaments weighing about 850 grams.
The theft occurred on September 5 at Vijay Shankar Lal Jewellers in Basheerbagh, under Saifabad police station limits. A complaint was lodged on September 7, following which a special investigation was launched.
Accused linked to IPL betting losses
Police identified the accused as Chadawa Ronak, 24, a marketing executive from Mumbai, and Mohd Hasnain Habiya, 22, a student also from Mumbai. Investigators revealed that both were in financial distress due to losses in IPL betting.
Ronak, who joined Shanaya Diamond Jewellery Pvt. Ltd. in April, reportedly hatched the plan to steal from the complainant’s shop. Hasnain, facing similar financial trouble, joined the conspiracy. The duo executed the theft together.
Acting on credible information, police teams apprehended the two near Nampally Railway Station on September 11 around 3:00 p.m. During interrogation, both confessed to the crime. Officers recovered the entire stolen property intact.
The accused were produced before the I ACJM Court in Nampally for judicial custody.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Central Zone K. Shilpavalli, IPS, and Additional DCP B. Anand. The investigation team included ACP R. Sanjay Kumar, SHO K. Raghavender, DI N. Rajender, and CCS Hyderabad’s crime staff.
Police advised jewellery merchants to verify employee backgrounds before hiring and urged the public to report suspicious activity via Dial 100.
