Telangana government finalises guidelines for second phase of Indiramma Housing scheme

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has decided to implement the second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme in a transparent and well-organised manner, without leaving room for any irregularities. A 23-day action plan has been prepared to ensure its execution from April 15. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy issued directions during a collectors’ conference.

Guidelines Issued

Each Assembly constituency will be assigned a special officer, while one gazetted officer-such as an MPDO, MPO, MA&VO, or AEs from various departments—will be allocated to oversee four to five villages in each mandal.

The beneficiary lists must be reviewed by district-level officials. If ineligible names are found in the lists, the respective village panchayats and the designated mandal-level gazetted officers will be held accountable. It is essential to ensure that houses are allotted only to the genuinely poor. The selection of beneficiaries must be based on recommendations by the Indiramma Committees. Ineligible names in the list should be replaced with eligible candidates.

Action Plan Timeline
– April 15–17: Consultations between officials and public representatives to finalise the number of houses sanctioned per village in each constituency.
– April 18–21: Indiramma Committees to recommend beneficiaries; officials will carry out verification.
– April 22–30: District-level ‘Super Check’ of the beneficiary lists.
– May 1: Display of final beneficiary lists at panchayat offices.
– May 2–4: Scrutiny under the supervision of District Collectors.
– May 5–7: Final sanction of houses by District Collectors.

Allocation of Two-Bedroom Houses for L-2 List Applicants
In several areas, two-bedroom houses constructed in earlier phases remain unallocated. New guidelines direct that these houses be allotted exclusively to applicants on the L-2 list. The allocation will be made based on recommendations from the Indiramma Committees and inspections by gazetted officers.

If any of these houses remain incomplete, the selected beneficiaries will be responsible for completing construction.
