Shabbir Ali urges Jubilee Hills to back Naveen Yadav for inclusive governance

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday urged the voters of Jubilee Hills to elect Congress nominee Naveen Yadav in the November 11 by-election. He described the vote as a test of inclusive governance and public accountability.

By-poll a referendum on governance, says Shabbir

Calling the contest “a choice between renewal and regression,” Shabbir Ali said the outcome would reflect whether Hyderabad’s most urbanised constituency wanted continued welfare efforts or a return to the “politics of convenience.” According to him, the election went beyond party loyalty and instead posed a wider question about public priorities.

He noted that the Congress government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had already begun restoring faith in institutions. “The people gave Congress a chance in 2023, and that mandate is now translating into visible work. From new professional colleges to minority women’s empowerment, results are taking shape,” he said.

Shift away from centralised politics

Framing the by-poll as a marker of political change, Shabbir Ali said Telangana was turning away from centralised decision-making and political arrogance. “This election is not about a single seat it’s about what kind of politics Hyderabad wants. Naveen Yadav represents a generation that believes in dialogue, not domination,” he stated.

He also warned voters against backing smaller candidates, arguing it would fracture the mandate. That, he said, could help previously rejected forces make a comeback. He pointed out that the Congress government had revived engagement with civil society, entrepreneurs, and student groups to make governance more participatory.

Diversity must reflect in political voice

“Jubilee Hills reflects Telangana’s diversity gated colonies next to bastis, professionals next to daily-wage earners. A Congress win here means every section will have a voice, not just the privileged few,” he said.

Shabbir Ali asked the electorate to compare opposition promises with their past records. He criticised earlier governments for failing to deliver on housing, jobs, and transport infrastructure. “This time, people will not be swayed by slogans or short-term inducements. They want accountability,” he said.

Voters urged to back change

Calling for high turnout, especially among youth and women, he said every vote would shape Hyderabad’s direction. “Every single vote will decide whether Hyderabad moves ahead with confidence or slips back into chaos. Let your vote speak for good governance and inclusive progress,” he concluded.
