HYDERABAD: A farmer in Siddipet district was left devastated after a lightning strike claimed the lives of his two oxen on Sunday, triggering emotional scenes in the village.
The incident occurred in Kishtapur, a village in Chinnakodur mandal, where heavy weather activity struck in the afternoon. As the storm swept through the region, a sudden lightning bolt struck the field where the oxen were tethered, killing both animals instantly.
The owner, a local farmer, was inconsolable upon discovering the lifeless bodies of the animals, which were central to his livelihood. Villagers gathered at the site, offering comfort and support as the man broke down in tears.
Visuals from the scene showed the farmer mourning beside the oxen, highlighting the emotional and economic toll the incident had taken. For many small-scale farmers, livestock remain an irreplaceable asset, crucial for both agricultural work and financial stability.
Local authorities are expected to assess the damage and may initiate a compensation process, though no official statement had been made at the time of reporting.
