Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking the removal of her name from the P.C. Ghosh Commission report on the Kaleshwaram project.
Smita Sabharwal challenges mentioned in the Kaleshwaram report
The commission report said Sabharwal reviewed construction works under the Kaleshwaram project. It also recorded that she visited three barrages and included photographs of her inspections. The report added that she conveyed feedback from several districts to the then chief minister.
According to the commission, Sabharwal, as Special Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office, played a key role in granting administrative approvals for the project. It further recommended action against her for failing to place facts before the cabinet.
However, Sabharwal told the court that the commission did not issue her notices under Sections 8B or 8C. She argued that including her name without such a chance caused injustice. In her petition, she asked the High Court to quash the report.
