Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said the Congress-led Praja Prabhu government has prioritised welfare and social justice since assuming office, contrasting it with the alleged neglect of the previous BRS regime.
Speaking at a ration card distribution event at Kothakapu Yadava Reddy Gardens in LB Nagar, the minister said the government was delivering on its promises despite inheriting a massive debt burden of ₹8 lakh crore with ₹7,000 crore in monthly interest. He said the previous government issued no new ration cards during its term.
Sridhar Babu said the government is currently providing 6 kg of free rice per person under the ration card scheme and is also advancing housing for the poor. Over 65,000 government jobs have been filled, and Group-I exams, long stalled, have resumed. He added that 200 units of free electricity are being supplied and a new 42% BC reservation bill has been passed. He urged BJP MPs and MLAs to help secure Presidential assent for the legislation.
The event was attended by Government Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLC Boggarapu Dayanand, former MP Madhuyashki Goud, and several Congress leaders and officials. Patnam Mahender Reddy reaffirmed the government’s dual focus on welfare and development, while other leaders criticised the BRS for broken promises.
