HYDERABAD: The Telangana government’s pilot implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act has received a strong public response, with over 11,000 applications submitted to resolve land issues. The pilot project, launched on April 14, 2025, aims to provide permanent solutions to land disputes through the Bhu Bharati Act.
The pilot project was conducted in four mandals: Nelakondapalli (Khammam district), Lingampet (Kamareddy district), Maddur (Narayanpet district), and Venkatapur (Mulugu district). From April 17 to 30, 2025, revenue conferences were held in 72 villages across these mandals to raise awareness about the Act and collect applications from the public.
District collectors were instructed to participate in two awareness conferences per day in each mandal. To facilitate this, two teams comprising six members each, led by tahsildars and deputy tahsildars, were formed at the mandal level. Special training sessions were conducted for officials to ensure effective implementation of the Act.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy actively participated in the awareness conferences, attending approximately 45 sessions across 20 districts between April 17 and 30, 2025.
During the pilot phase, a total of 11,130 applications were received: 3,702 in Lingampet, 3,969 in Venkatapur, 1,341 in Maddur, and 2,618 in Nelakondapalli. Among these, 3,446 applications pertained to the PBB (Patta Bhu Bharati) category, and 2,796 were related to simple agreements. All applications were promptly entered into the computer system and forwarded to the relevant authorities for further action.
Despite the scorching summer heat, the public participated enthusiastically in the conferences. As of May 1, 2025, conferences have been completed in 555 out of 605 mandals across Telangana, excluding Hyderabad. The government aims to resolve land issues in the four pilot mandals by June 2, 2025. Furthermore, plans are underway to implement the Bhu Bharati Act in 28 mandals across the remaining districts of the state.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Bhu Bharati Act marks the beginning of a revolutionary change in land reforms, focusing entirely on public welfare and farmer prosperity.
