Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been postponed. According to an official release from the Secretariat, the Cabinet will now meet on November 12 at 3 p.m.

Telangana Cabinet meeting postponed to November 12 for key discussions

Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy earlier said the Cabinet would discuss the High Court’s ruling and take a final decision on conducting the elections. Moreover, the government plans to review the implications of the court order before finalising the election schedule.

In a recent decision, the state Cabinet removed Section 21(3) of the Telangana Panchayat Raj Act, 2018. The provision barred individuals with more than two children from contesting local body elections. Furthermore, the Governor, C.P. Radhakrishnan, approved the Cabinet’s decision, and the Law Department subsequently issued a gazette notification.

Officials said the upcoming Cabinet meeting is likely to focus on administrative preparedness for the polls and related governance issues.
