Telangana Cabinet removes two-child rule for local body elections

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet decided to scrap the two-child rule for local body elections, allowing people with three children to contest. The move replaces the old law that made anyone with more than two children ineligible to run for local office. With this change, more citizens can now participate in local governance.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy chaired the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday. After the meeting, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy briefed the media on the decisions. He said the Cabinet also approved land allocations for several sectors. Moreover, the government will offer a bonus along with the minimum support price for fine rice farmers.

Cabinet approves new agri colleges and local quota in NALSAR

The government cleared a proposal to set up three new agricultural colleges in Telangana. It also resolved to reserve 50 per cent of seats in NALSAR University for local students. In addition, the Cabinet granted seven more acres of land to NALSAR to support its expansion.

Minister Srinivasa Reddy said the government would buy all paddy produced by farmers in the state. He added that the state would make the purchase even if the Centre did not, ensuring full support to cultivators.

Telangana to celebrate two years of governance.

Telangana Cabinet decided to celebrate the completion of two years of the present administration with public events across the state. A sub-committee will handle the planning of these celebrations.

The Cabinet also formed a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to review and finalise plans for the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro project.
