Hyderabad: The Telangana government sanctioned ₹250 crore in compensation for families displaced by the Uddandapur reservoir under the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced Sunday.
Of the sanctioned amount, ₹25 crore was released last month and another ₹175 crore was disbursed this month. The remaining amount will be cleared by December 9, the chief minister assured.
Revanth Reddy said the state was fulfilling its promise to compensate those forcibly evacuated during the previous administration’s tenure. “We promised to wipe their tears with fair compensation,” he stated.
The chief minister directed local MLA Anirudh Reddy to ensure that full compensation reaches all Palamuru-Rangareddy LIS oustees by the stated deadline. As part of outreach efforts, Anirudh Reddy on Sunday shared a meal with around 6,000 displaced residents in the project zone and reaffirmed the state’s commitment.

The chief minister congratulated the legislator for the gesture, calling it a show of solidarity with those “left behind as mute witnesses to the negligence of the past government.”
