Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has demanded that the Central Government immediately deliver urea to the state, alleging deliberate shortfall in supply despite approved allocations for the ongoing Kharif season.
He stated that Telangana had received only 5.32 lakh metric tonnes of urea against the sanctioned 8.30 lakh metric tonnes, leaving a deficit of nearly 3 lakh metric tonnes. The shortage, he said, has severely impacted farmers across the state.
The Chief Minister said that Members of Parliament from Telangana had raised the issue with Union Ministers, including submitting a formal representation to Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister J.P. Nadda.
He added that he had personally intervened with the Union Minister, while State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao had written multiple times to the Centre. Despite these efforts, the Centre had not acted on the shortfall, he alleged.
Revanth Reddy accused the Central Government of discriminating against Telangana by failing to fulfill the state’s approved quota. He said that even after repeated appeals, debates in Parliament, and protests led by Telangana MPs, the urea supply remained inadequate.
He reiterated his call for urgent delivery of the remaining quantity to safeguard the interests of the state’s farmers during the critical cropping season.
