Telangana DGP Jitender bids farewell, highlights crackdown on cybercrime and drugs

Hyderabad: Outgoing Telangana DGP Dr. Jitender received a ceremonial farewell at the Telangana Police Academy on Tuesday. Police personnel honoured him with a guard of honour.

During his address, Jitender said the force had taken strong action against cybercrime and narcotics during his tenure. β€œWe have been waging a continuous battle against these threats. In the last 15 months, law and order in Telangana has come under control. Several steps were taken to bring down the crime rate,” he said.

The DGP noted that Telangana gained national recognition for its policing standards. The State secured the top position in the India Justice Report. He credited this success to collective efforts in crime prevention and policing efficiency.

Reflecting on his 33-year career across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Jitender called his service an unforgettable journey. Born and raised in Punjab, he said, β€œMy 40 years of life went by like 40 days.” He recalled operations against Naxalism, terrorism, and flood management as key moments.

He also pointed out that major public events were conducted without incident. These included Ganesh immersions, Sri Rama Navami, and Bakrid. β€œThe Telangana Police have worked not only for the people of this State but also extended support to other States,” he said. He cited the arrest of betting app operators, cybercriminals, and financial fraudsters as examples.

Sivadhar Reddy to take charge as new DGP

Jitender expressed full confidence in his successor Sivadhar Reddy, describing him as highly capable. β€œHe is a deserving choice for the post of DGP. I have known him for years as a colleague. His service will benefit the people of Telangana immensely,” he said.
