HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has officially announced the launch of the Gaddar Cine Awards, a new initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating artistic excellence. The awards ceremony will commence from the upcoming Ugadi festival, marking a new chapter in the state’s support for the arts and cinema.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka made the announcement during the Bhakta Ramadasu Jayanthi celebrations held at LB Stadium on Sunday. He criticized the previous administration for failing to confer the Nandi Awards for over a decade. In response, the Gaddar Cine Awards have been introduced, with the first ceremony scheduled for Ugadi.
Promoting Arts and Cultural Development
The Deputy Chief Minister also unveiled plans to organize theatre competitions and present awards to artists for their contributions. He emphasized that these initiatives aim to foster cultural growth alongside the state’s development in other sectors.
Professor Alekhya Punjala, President of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, echoed these views, stating that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is dedicated to preserving and nurturing Telangana’s cultural heritage. She highlighted that the 392nd Bhakta Ramadasu Jayanthi celebrations were being conducted on a grand scale under the Chief Minister’s guidance. The event saw participation from 26 musical groups and over 600 artists from different districts of the state.
