HYDERABAD, 30 January 2025: The Telangana government is considering extending government advertisements and journalist accreditations to digital media platforms. S. Harish, Special Commissioner of the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, assured that the process would commence soon.
Leaders of the Telangana Digital Media Journalists Association, Swami Muddam and Pothu Ashok, met with Commissioner Harish to submit a representation. They emphasized the need to support online news media, including websites and apps, by providing accreditations and government advertisements, given their role in delivering timely information to the public.
In response, Commissioner Harish expressed a positive outlook and confirmed that guidelines are being formulated to facilitate this initiative. He assured that the process of granting government advertisements to online digital media would begin shortly.
Following the meeting, Association leader Swami Muddam highlighted the pivotal role digital media plays as a bridge between the government and the public. He noted that many journalists are employed in the digital media sector and emphasized the importance of official recognition and support through government advertisements. The association expressed gratitude to the Commissioner and the government for their commitment to developing guidelines and initiating this process.
