Telangana MLC elections

HYDERABAD: In a recent development, five candidates have been elected unopposed to the Telangana Legislative Council under the MLA quota. Election authorities have officially declared the unopposed election of these candidates and have issued them certificates of election.

The candidates who filed their nominations were Vijayashanti, Dasoju Sravan, Addanki Dayakar, Shankar Naik, and Satyam. Additionally, six other nominations were submitted but were rejected due to improper filing. Consequently, the aforementioned five candidates were declared elected unopposed.

Based on the strength of members in the Assembly, the Congress party secured four seats, one of which was allocated to the CPI as part of an alliance. As a result, Vijayashanti, Addanki Dayakar, and Shankar Naik filed nominations from the Congress, while Satyam filed from the CPI. The BRS party secured one seat, with Dasoju Sravan filing the nomination. All five candidates have been declared elected unopposed by the Election Commission.
