Hyderabad: The Telangana government sanctioned ₹150 crore for the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Maha Jatara scheduled in January 2026. The Tribal Welfare Department issued formal orders releasing the funds.
The allocation will cover arrangements for the four-day tribal fair and provide for permanent infrastructure at Medaram village in Mulugu district. Officials said the funding aims to manage the heavy rush of devotees expected at Asia’s largest tribal congregation.
Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare Seethakka thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Tribal Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar for approving the funds. She stated that the sanction would ensure a “grand and unprecedented” conduct of the jatara.

The Maha Jatara, celebrated biennially in honour of tribal goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma, attracts lakhs of devotees from across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Odisha. Authorities said the sanctioned amount would help strengthen facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, roads and accommodation in preparation for the massive gathering.
