Telangana Speaker begins hearing on disqualification of rebel MLAs

Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad on Friday began proceedings on disqualification petitions filed against four MLAs accused of party defections.

The first case heard involved Kalvakuntla Sanjay’s petition against T. Prakash Goud. Both sides presented their arguments before the Speaker. Members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) attended the hearing.

Three additional petitions were taken up during the day. At noon, Chinta Prabhakar’s petition against Kale Yadaiah was heard. This was followed by another petition by Prabhakar against Gudem Mahipal Reddy at 2 p.m. The final hearing, at 3 p.m., involved Palla Rajeshwar Reddy’s petition against Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy.

In each case, the petitioners and respondents submitted affidavits and supporting documents. Arguments from both legal teams were presented in the Speaker’s chamber.

In light of the hearings, police restrictions have been imposed around the Assembly premises from today until October 31.
