Hyderabad: The Telangana government has launched a unified digital platform to streamline all approvals related to filmmaking and theatre operations. Telangana State Film Development Corporation (FDC) Chairman Dil Raju unveiled the project on Monday, calling it a first-of-its-kind initiative in India.
Speaking at a workshop at Tourism Plaza in Begumpet, Dil Raju introduced the portal, titled Films in Telangana. He explained that it will allow filmmakers to obtain filming permissions, book shooting locations, hire technical staff, and secure hospitality services all from a single interface.
Streamlined approvals for local and global filmmakers
The new portal caters to both Indian and international filmmakers. They can simply upload their script to initiate the approval process. The system will then guide them through clearances from various government departments, making it easier to plan and execute shoots across Telangana.
According to Raju, the portal showcases Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s commitment to making Telangana a film-friendly state. He noted that the initiative marks a new era of efficiency and transparency in the film sector.
FDC Managing Director C.H. Priyanka, Tourism Corporation MD Valluru Kranti, senior government officials, and film industry stakeholders participated in the workshop.
Online B-form access for cinema theatres
Dil Raju also announced plans to digitise the issuance of the B-form, which is mandatory for cinema theatres. Currently handled manually by police commissioners and additional collectors, this form will soon be available online.
The FDC is coordinating with the Telangana Home Department to finalise the new system. Raju invited feedback from filmmakers and departmental officials to further enhance the portal’s usability.
He confirmed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy will officially launch the portal once development is complete.
