Hyderabad, January 10: A major incident occurred in Goshamahal as a portion of the Chakwadi drain near a plywood shop collapsed again. A crusher truck, brought in for work on the drain, got stuck in the caved-in section. The driver managed to escape unharmed, averting a more severe outcome.
This is not the first time such an incident has taken place at this location. Earlier, the Chakwadi drain had collapsed during repair works. On this occasion, the truck intended for drain repair became trapped in the sinkhole. Officials expressed relief that the driver was safe despite the truck being stuck in the unstable ground.
The collapse caused drainage water to overflow into the surrounding areas, leading to significant inconvenience for local residents. People living nearby reported facing difficulties due to the water stagnation and expressed frustration over the recurring problem.
Residents alleged that they had repeatedly requested authorities to completely restore the damaged drain, but no action had been taken so far. They have now renewed their demands for an immediate and permanent resolution to the issue.
Efforts to remove the truck and stabilise the affected area are reportedly underway.
