Suryapet, January 8: A thief attempting to flee with stolen money and gold ornaments was caught and beaten by villagers in Srirangapuram, Kodad town. The incident occurred in Gopireddy Nagar, where two thieves snatched valuables from a person and tried to escape.
Alerted by the commotion, villagers chased the duo. While one managed to flee, the other was apprehended. The villagers retrieved the stolen cash and gold from the thief and subjected him to a beating before handing him over to the police.
Police identified the recovered cash as belonging to a rice trader. A case has been registered, and authorities have begun investigating the incident. Efforts are underway to trace the second suspect who escaped.
