DELHI: The Waqf Amendment Bill is likely to be introduced in the ongoing Budget Session after Eid. The session is scheduled to continue until April 4. According to media reports, the government has stated that the bill will be brought for discussion in Parliament after the Eid celebrations.
Reports further mention that on March 21, a guillotine process will be applied in the Lok Sabha, allowing the approval of pending ministry grant demands without discussion. Following this, the Finance Bill will be passed.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) staged a protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Hundreds of people, including AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, participated in the demonstration.
Speaking on the issue, Owaisi stated, “We oppose this bill. The bill contains provisions where if someone claims that a mosque is not a mosque, and the collector orders an inquiry, then until the investigation is complete, the mosque will not be considered our property.”
pic.twitter.com/sm0lpp7nGv
