YSR wished to see Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister: TPCC chief

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday said the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had long hoped to see Rahul Gandhi become Prime Minister.

Speaking at a tribute event held at Gandhi Bhavan on the 16th death anniversary of the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Goud said it was a personal aspiration of YSR that remained unfulfilled. He expressed sadness that YSR passed away before witnessing that goal realized.

YSR remembered as pro-farmer leader

“Every citizen in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh fondly remembers Rajasekhara Reddy,” Goud said. “He was a remarkable leader who always prioritised farmers’ welfare. People across all sections of society recall him with deep respect.”

Senior Congress leaders, including former MP KVP Ramachandra Rao and MLA Danam Nagender, also participated in the commemoration and offered floral tributes. They recalled YSR’s contribution to welfare schemes and his leadership legacy within the Congress party.
