Hyderabad: Gadwal MLA B. Krishna Mohan Reddy on Sunday reiterated that he remains a member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and has not defected from the party. His remarks followed a notice issued by the Telangana Assembly Speaker as part of an ongoing anti-defection case.
Speaking to reporters, Krishna Mohan Reddy confirmed that he had submitted a formal reply to the Speaker. In his written statement, he clearly stated that he has not joined any other political party. He also detailed his recent meetings with the Chief Minister to provide context and transparency.
“I have not resigned from the BRS. I am still very much part of the party,” he said. According to him, this position has been clearly conveyed to the Speaker.
The defection case stems from developments after the 2023 Assembly elections. Following a narrow victory, the Congress formed the state government. However, ten BRS MLAs shifted their allegiance to the ruling party. This triggered complaints from both BRS and BJP legislators, who demanded disqualification of the defectors.
As a result, the Assembly Speaker G. Prasad issued notices to the accused MLAs. This action followed a Supreme Court directive, which instructed the Speaker to resolve the matter within three months.
