Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will formally launch the Indiramma saree distribution programme on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The scheme will benefit one crore women across Telangana.
The Chief Minister reviewed the implementation plan with Minister Seethakka and senior officials, instructing that every eligible woman must receive a saree without fail. He emphasized that sarees should be of high quality and that the process must be transparent and tech-enabled.
Weavers working on power looms are preparing the sarees. Due to production timelines, the state will distribute the sarees in two phases.
The first phase will run in rural areas from November 19 to December 9, coinciding with the Telangana Mother Incarnation Day. The second phase will cover urban areas from March 1 to March 8, aligning with International Women’s Day.
After paying tribute to Indira Gandhi at her statue on Necklace Road at noon Wednesday, Revanth Reddy will officially launch the programme. He will then interact via video conference from the Secretariat with women from rural Telangana.
The Chief Minister has directed ministers, MLAs, and MLCs to join the video conference from their respective district collectorates.
