Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir said the Kamareddy BC declaration rally on September 15 would be a milestone in the campaign for social justice. He stated that the event would celebrate the implementation of 42% BC reservations and highlight the BJP’s resistance to the Bill.
At a preparatory meeting held at Shubham Convention Hall, Shabbir said the rally would showcase Congress’s commitment to backward communities. “Kamareddy is where we announced both the BC Declaration and the Reservation Bill. Now we are implementing them here. That makes this a historic moment,” he said.
He explained that the rally would send a strong message to Delhi. “This is more than a celebration. We are setting a national example,” he said.
Kamareddy BC declaration rally to challenge BJP’s BC stance
Shabbir urged people from all communities to attend. He asked every Congress worker to bring at least 100 participants. “This is not just a BC issue. It is about equality, rights, and true representation,” he added.
He credited Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for revitalising the BC movement. Additionally, he confirmed that both national and state Congress leaders would join the rally.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the rally would mark his one-year anniversary as party chief. He accused the BJP of blocking the BC Bill and using religious slogans to divert attention from development.
Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, D Seethakka, Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha, and Vakati Srihari echoed these views. They criticised the Centre for stalling the Bill, despite the state passing it and forwarding it to the Governor and the President.
Seethakka said the BJP and BRS had boycotted the caste census and were now politicising the Bill. “We gave BCs real representation. This rally will make their voice stronger,” she said.
Prabhakar described the BC Bill as a matter of political justice. Surekha recalled that Congress had even protested at Jantar Mantar to push for approval. Vakati Srihari urged people to make sure the rally sends a clear message to the Centre.
Congress leaders also attacked BRS MLC K. Kavitha, calling her the “liquor queen.” They said her alleged role in the liquor scam had damaged Nizamabad’s image. They further argued that BRS had become irrelevant due to internal corruption and infighting.
The meeting included MLAs Sudarshan Reddy, Bhupathi Reddy, Madan Mohan Rao, Lakshmikant Rao, MP Suresh Shetkar, MLC Balmoori Venkat, TMREIS president Faheem Qureshi, Urdu Academy chairman Taher Bin Handan, Agro Industries chairman Kasula Balaraju, and other senior leaders.
